Dear Lakeview Families,
It is with great enthusiasm that I introduce myself, Michael Williams as the new principal of Lakeview Elementary School. I would like to welcome you to the 2018 - 2019 academic year! I grew up attending schools in the neighboring city of Downey and I am a proud graduate of Downey High School. I earned undergraduate and graduate degrees from California State University Channel Islands and the University of Southern California. I also hold both an administrative services credential and a multiple subject teaching credential. I have a strong passion for supporting the learning that occurs in the classroom between teachers and students.
I come to Lakeview with experience as an elementary teacher and specialist in both traditional and charter school settings. My professional experience has been at multiple school sites serving diverse populations of students and families. Most recently I served as a Categorical Resource Teacher Specialist in the Downey Unified School District, where I coordinated Title I, English learner and intervention programs that worked to increase the academic achievement for students with the highest need. When I am not working, I enjoy traveling and most recently spent time in Costa Rica. I also enjoy staying active, spending time at the beach and attending concerts with my family and friends. As an alumni, I am a big fan of USC athletics, especially football. I watch and attend many games throughout the season.
From the moment I stepped onto campus, I knew Lakeview was a special place. After meeting the Lakeview staff, it is evident these dedicated teachers and support staff members are committed to the academic success and social-emotional well-being of every student. I am so proud and excited to serve as the principal of our school and a member of the Lakeview family. As principal, I will continue working alongside the staff, parents and community in building on the successes of Lakeview. I am looking forward to a fun and successful school year! GO LIONS!
